Using values to learn and the community to grow encapsulates our commitment to nurturing both the academic and personal development of each student. We focus on instilling core values such as respect, happiness, tolerance, perseverance, and honesty, which are essential for lifelong success. Simultaneously, we strive to create a supportive and inclusive community where children feel valued and empowered to grow. This holistic approach ensures that our students not only achieve academic excellence but also develop into compassionate, resilient, and responsible individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
Respect
At Ysgol Pentraeth, respect is at the heart of everything we do. Teaching our children to respect one another, as well as their teachers, environment, and community, is essential in building a positive school atmosphere. Respect helps our pupils value the rich culture and heritage of North Wales, as well as embrace differences in the wider world. As they grow, this core value will help them become considerate individuals who contribute to a more understanding and compassionate society.
Happiness
We believe that happiness is key to fostering a love of learning at Ysgol Pentraeth. A happy child is more engaged, confident, and eager to participate in school life. By nurturing an environment where joy and positivity thrive, we support our pupils' emotional well-being. This happiness builds resilience and optimism, equipping them to face life’s challenges and maintain a positive outlook on their future, both in their community and beyond.
Tolerance
Ysgol Pentraeth celebrates the importance of tolerance in our close-knit community. Anglesey has a rich cultural tapestry, and by teaching tolerance, we help our children appreciate and understand differences in backgrounds, languages, and viewpoints. This core value encourages open-mindedness, enabling our pupils to grow into respectful citizens who value diversity, both locally and globally.
Perseverance
Perseverance is a key value we instill in all our pupils at Ysgol Pentraeth. The determination to keep trying, even when faced with challenges, is an essential skill for lifelong learning and growth. Whether it’s mastering a subject or tackling a new skill, perseverance helps our children develop a strong sense of achievement and resilience that will serve them well in the future, wherever their paths may lead.
Diligence
At Ysgol Pentraeth, we take pride in fostering diligence in our pupils. Through hard work, focus, and commitment, children learn the value of putting effort into their tasks, whether in the classroom or in everyday life. This value teaches them that success comes from steady dedication, preparing them to be responsible, dependable individuals who contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
In line with the four purposes of the Welsh Curriculum, our goal is to nurture children who are:
-
Ambitious, capable learners ready to learn throughout their lives;
-
Enterprising, creative contributors ready to play a full part in life and work;
-
Ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world;
-
Healthy, confident individuals ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
