Admissions
Admissions Policy
Every school has an admission number. The admission number for this school is 17. There is no automatic transfer from Nursery to Reception, and since Anglesey Education Authority is the Admission Authority, the Authority will consider applications. If more children are chosen to be sent to the school than there are places available, applications will be considered according to the following criteria listed in order of priority:
-
The number of children that can be admitted to the school (i.e., the school’s admission number for each school year);
-
The geographical area usually served by the school (i.e., defined catchment area);
-
Whether the prospective pupil has a sibling at the school.
Information is available on the Anglesey County Council website, which is www.ynysmon.gov.uk.
Admission of Children
Children are admitted part-time to the Nursery Unit in September following their third birthday. During the summer term, parents of new pupils are invited to the school to talk to the Headteacher and nursery class staff in order to share information about the children who will start the following September.
Pentraeth Nursery Circle is located in the school building for 4 mornings a week (Monday - Thursday). We work closely with the Nursery Circle during the transition process. Nursery Circle staff will move with the children during the transition periods. We feel that this reduces their anxiety and helps them look forward to starting in the nursery class.
Childcare Offer
The school offers childcare for 3-4 year-olds whose parents are eligible to claim up to 20 hours of early education and childcare per week. If you are eligible for this scheme, your child will be able to be at the school from:
-
8:50 - 12:50 - Cylch Meithrin Pentraeth (run by Dawn Hughes)
-
12:50 - 3:20 - Nursery Class in the school.
For more information, visit the website: Childcare Offer for Wales.
School Time
Parents are invited to meet with the nursery class staff during the summer term before their children start school so that the children can familiarize themselves with the Nursery Unit, the location of toilets, playground, etc., and meet the teachers and the headteacher.
